Don't give 'em hell by Carl Clemons
For you freshman, please don’t give the teachers a hard time and actually do your work. I know it’s going to be hard at a new school with more freedom and all but don’t let it get the best of you. For you freshman who want to go to college pay attention in class starting this year! Do your homework and all of your class work because 75% of the time if you do you won’t have to stay up all night and study. The teachers at Cedar and pretty good for the most part and give you all the information for you to pass your test and projects with flying colors! From day one don’t slack off; your 9th grade year you probably won’t take a lot of stuff serious just because your passing and having fun. I’m advising you to take it serious especially the ones that are planning to go to college. Keep you GPA above a 3.0 so you can get hope if you are planning to go to a college in GA. Even if you aren’t planning to go to a college down here still keep it high because colleges look at your high school grades. Also take the SATs or ACTs as many times as possible and make as high as you can. Also be respectful to your teachers because they do more for you than you know. They will help you maintain a grade that you want if you work hard for it and will give you extra credit or extra assignments to help you. They stay up late and use a lot of their own time to grade you work, make up work, and extra credit work so be patient with them. I don’t know if you have ever heard this phrase “you have to give respect to get it” but that is a very true statement! Teachers will lean your way for help if you need it especially if you are respectful. So don’t give them a hard time and have fun but not too much !
